BESS Foundation Design, Structural Engineering and Construction
BESS (Battery Storage) Foundation Design and Construction Works
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are an indispensable part of modern energy infrastructures. One of the most critical stages in the installation of these systems is the correct foundation design and static calculations based on ground survey. As GMR Energy, we offer safe and long-lasting foundation construction solutions in accordance with international standards for your BESS projects.
With our experienced civil engineer staff, we analyze the geological structure of your site and develop raft or single foundation designs suitable for container weights and dynamic loads. We provide turnkey construction service without compromising quality control standards from the beginning to the end of the process.
- Detailed Ground Survey and Reporting
- BESS Container Load Analysis and Static Project
- Raft Foundation and Reinforced Concrete Manufacturing
- Cable Tray and Infrastructure Integration

Our Construction and Design Process
Each BESS project requires special engineering according to the ground conditions of the site and the technical specifications of the storage unit to be used. Our process starts with detailed field analyzes and is carried out meticulously until the reinforced concrete fabrications are approved by laboratory tests. Our goal is to protect your investment against earthquakes, subsidence and environmental factors.
Ground Improvement
and Excavation
Improvements under lean concrete to increase ground bearing capacity and precise excavation/filling works in accordance with project elevations.
Static Project and
Reinforcement Installation
Static calculations in accordance with TDBY 2018 and Eurocode standards and high-strength iron reinforcement workmanship shaped accordingly.
Concrete Pouring and
leveling
Millimetric surface leveling with laser level for casting and container placement with concrete classes C30/37 and above.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Battery containers are quite heavy loads. The risk of the ground settling over time or liquefaction may disrupt the balance of the system and damage the cable connections. For this reason, the bearing capacity of the ground should be determined by drilling ground survey and appropriate improvement should be made.
During the project phase, reservation spaces and shafts are left for DC, AC, Communication and KGYS cables that will enter from the bottom or side of the BESS unit. Before pouring concrete, the placement of these channels is fixed millimetrically, so that there is no need to break during installation.
In static calculations, the dead load of the container, wind load, snow load and especially earthquake (seismic) loads are taken into account. According to the earthquake risk map of the region, analysis is made in TBDY 2018 standards and foundation thickness and reinforcement density are determined.
Although it varies depending on site conditions and project size, the foundation and infrastructure works of an average BESS site take 2-4 weeks.
Depending on the environmental conditions and exposure classes, C30/37 or C35/45 class, sulfate-resistant ready-mixed concrete with chemical additives is generally used in our projects.
We provide turnkey construction site installation, ground survey and BESS foundation construction services with our own team and equipment in all regions of Türkiye.
